Create an Alert

1. On the GPS Insight bar go to AccountScheduledAlerts and click Open.

2. Click to select the type of alert you want to create.

Idle Time Alert: Sends an alert when a vehicle idles for a specified amount of time.

Landmark Alert: Sends an alert when a vehicle enters or exits a landmark.

Odd-Hours Alert: Sends an alert when a vehicle drives (reports movement) during specified hours (such as non-business hours).

Out-of-Range Alert: Sends an alert when a vehicle is running but has not reported in a specified number of minutes or is off and has not reported in a specified number of days. This report is useful for spotting units that may not be reporting properly.

Speeding Alert: Sends an alert when a vehicle drives over a specified speed.

Stop/Idle Alert: Sends an alert when a vehicle is stopped or idling for a specified amount of time.

Switch Alert: Sends an alert when a driver hits a panic button or when the unit loses then regains power (called a power cycle).

Note: Most of these alerts can be integrated with landmarks. For example, you can set a Speeding Alert to notify you if a vehicle is speeding inside a specific landmark or group of landmarks, or a Stop/Idle Alert to tell you if a vehicle is stopped inside or outside a landmark or group of landmarks.

3. Select Groups or Vehicles to choose the vehicle group or vehicle you are monitoring. Then pick the group or vehicle from the dropdown menu.

4. Name the Alert. Add the email address(es) and/or SMS number(s) to which the alert will be sent.

5. To send an alert to the driver, check the Send Alert to Driver box. Then enter the message to be sent.

Note: The message will be sent to the contact information associated with the vehicle(s) on the Vehicle List. To see the contact information for the vehicle click contact info.

The message will be sent according to the designated Preference.

Make sure the Phone/SMS and Email Address are filled in as needed. To add a Phone/SMS or Email Address click on the field, enter the information, and click ok.

6. Select when you want the alert to be active.

You can choose to have the alert active on Weekdays and/or Weekends. You can also choose if you want it to be active All Day or only during specific hours (Odd Hours) of the day.

7. Select the landmark or landmark group. And select what will trigger the alert:

Inside: You will be alerted when the vehicle enters the landmark.

Outside: You will be alerted when the vehicle exits the landmark.

In & Out: You will be alerted when the vehicle either enters or exits the landmark.

8. Adjust the time interval between notifications (Optional).

You will be alerted every time a vehicle triggers the alert. If you had this alert set for a large group of vehicles you might receive a constant stream of alerts. To avoid that you can set the Re-Notification Delay to limit how often you receive the alerts. If you set the Re-Notification Delay to 5 minutes, you will not receive alerts more often than every 5 minutes (the alerts that have accumulated in those 5 minutes will then all be sent to you at once).

The Per-Vehicle Delay is similar in that you are adjusting how often you receive alerts but in this case it pertains to a specific vehicle. If you have one vehicle that is constantly going in and out of a landmark you can use the Per-Vehicle Delay to limit how often you receive the alerts triggered by that particular vehicle.

9. Click Create New Alert.
