How to upload GPS Insight landmarks to a Garmin
Using GPS Insight, you can upload your landmarks to a Garmin in two ways:
1) export them in GPS Insight, then upload them using the Garmin POI loader
2) Wirelessly, in late Q2, we will allow you to send them (additional service fees may apply due to the extreme bandwidth used for large sets of customers, etc.)
Here are directions for the “download and sync” method:
First, open the Import/Export screen from the GPS Insight bar, under Mapping → Landmarks → Import.
Then choose the group(s) of landmarks you wish to include in your POI file.
Save this file on your computer in a folder someplace you can find it easily.
Then download the Garmin POI loader here (search www.garmin.com for POI Loader if this link changes) – you only have to do this once.
Install it on your PC.
Launch it, and point it toward the appropriate directory with your POI file you just saved.
Save them to a Garmin (you need to attach your Garmin to this computer with a USB cable and make sure it’s turned on).
Choose your Device in the next screen, then complete the upload.
The Landmarks will then be available under “Find Location” → “Extras” → “Custom POI’s” for you to search through/choose to navigate to.
