Why are path lines so thin in Google Earth on Vista?

Microsoft Windows Vista is still a very new product, and as such, many of the video drivers are not 100% correct.

Some customers find that their video driver does not properly support the necessary “DirectX” calls to properly size Google Earth lines. Google has acknowledged this issue and there is a workaround.

You can switch your Google Earth settings to “OpenGL” in order to make the lines show up in the proper width. HOWEVER, this will slow down the overall application. There is a tradeoff between displaying the lines at the correct width and using the native DirectX capabilities which Windows Vista prefers.

Change your option to OpenGL here:

We recommend that you try both and see which works best for your exact computer setup.
